NEW BEDFORD, Mass., Sept. 28, 2009 - AHEAD has teamed up with the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge to provide caps for its cancer patients in 27 locations around the country.

“We applaud the valuable resources that Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their families, cancer is so pervasive and it touches us all somehow,” said Ken Shwartz, president, AHEAD. “From time to time, we have overruns of caps, although they have some commercial value, do not meet our high manufacturing standards and we wanted to put them to good use. The folks at Hope Lodge we’re thrilled to accept them for their patients.”

Hope Lodge offers cancer patients and their families a free, temporary place to stay when their best hope for effective treatment may be in another city. Not having to worry about where to stay or how to pay for lodging allows Hope Lodge guests to focus on the most important thing — getting well.

At most of the facilities, AHEAD’s local sales representative personally delivers the caps to the Hope Lodge facility in the area. 

“It makes the donation a bit more personal and it’s a very rewarding experience for our reps to visit the facility and see how something as simple as a hat can really make someone’s day a bit brighter,” Shwartz said.
